cheesecake momma
There is an award-winning cheesecake company in Ukiah! I was just at Whole Foods and saw their little mini (single serving) cakes in the bakery section.
The New York Times says: "Cheesecake Momma beats out all the others I sampled because it uses only real ingredients — no fake whipped topping, no artificial anything — and even offers a couple of organic varieties. My favorite is the nine-inch with lemon and cranberry swirl, which adds a refreshing accent to cheesecake's unctuousness" - Marian Buros, food critic of the New York Times, 11/10/04.

Cheesecake wedding cake
http://www.a-weddingday.com/recipes/recipes2.html
But you have to think about keeping any cake intact and refrigerated if you need to transport it - just imageine, 200 cases of food poisoning! Nobody would EVER forget your wedding! ;-)

providing bus transport
I keep thinking about providing transport up to Saratoga Springs for our guests. I think it would be a lot of fun and so much easier for the guests, plus it would allow us to greet everyone at once and at least know that a certain number of people will be there at a certain time. Question is, would we pay for the bus ourselves, or ask for contributions? Here's rates for one bus company that a friend recommended. Another quote I just got works out to $35/person for 20 people, $21/person for 40. That's for a one-way transfer. One more logistical nightmare to add to the pile! Bring it on!!

another invitation idea

cymbidium invitation - we are most likely having this flower as one of the main elements of the floral design (if we go with dandelion flowers in ukiah, who we met with this past weekend and who was really nice), we can have the invitation done in green, which will be the color of our orchids. I can't find a pic of the orchids we talked about, but it is similar to the cymbidium but smaller and doesn't scream ORCHID quite so much...

Linens and More Linens

This site may be a bit posh but places that UPS linens to you seem to be all over the web. Isn't this gorgeous, though?

lanterns!
D, check it out - Shoji Decor and also lantern spacing kits, you can choose how many sockets and how far apart. Sounds good... a little pricey, though, maybe?
Brits and Green Weddings
This is a neat site. I was working on solving your invite dilemma. I wonder if going to an eco-friendly but non-wedding printer would be less costly. You put the word "wedding" on anything and kapow! Price goes through the roof. :-b
